just finished Half Bad by Sally Green.  I went into this with a open mind not really sure what to expect. But I can honestly say this is definitely one to pot on your to read list this year.

Half bad is the  debut novel for Sally Green. It is a captivating story, that uses the  classic concept of magic and good versus evil . Combined with the story of growing and discovering who you are.

Heavens Trilogy, #!

The Souls of Rain

The secrets of the heavens had always been carefully guarded. Until one day when the angels realized that what they used to believe in was nothing but a cruel game between heaven and hell.

And Claire's life is a part of that game too….

She is a guardian angel. She always thought that her existence was perfect. But perfection is a very relative term, and no one is protected from making mistakes.

Everything changes the moment Claire gets a new assignment. Guarding humans has never been easy, and this time won't be an exception.

Alan Rosenford is a spoilt party-boy, whose life is a hurricane of risk and adrenaline rush. His soul is damaged, his heart is bleeding, and there are so many things he prefers to keep private….

The words they have never said before ….

The sins they have never committed….

How much does forgiveness of the heavens cost?

Or maybe even the heavens make mistakes?..

Excerpt

I looked back at the files I was still holding in my hands. I never read people's files. I liked making my own opinion about them. No matter how bad or perfect they were, the only thing I cared about were their souls.

Even a criminal's soul can be pure. Because when people kill or lie it means that demons win. It also means that angels lose. And we lose only if we don't take our duties seriously. Usually it leads to becoming Pastreens. Or fallen. Both variants close the doors to the heavens and leave us wandering around the earth forever. And no matter how heavy the sin we commit is, we always want to be forgiven and returned to the heavens.
Speaking of sins….

"Nolan, what are you doing here?" I asked the fallen angel, standing behind me.

"Good to see you too, Claire." He smiled, taking a seat on my couch. The guy didn't need my permission to make himself at home.

Nolan was the only fallen who never wanted to be forgiven. At least that was what he was saying every time I asked him about his life. He liked living among humans. Though I never asked him about the rule he broke to be kicked out of the heavens.

"I heard about your new assignment," he said, turning on the TV set.

"Why do you even care?" I crossed my arms, watching him curiously. I didn't understand why Nolan liked spending time with me. My life was a picture of everything he couldn't have.

"Because we are best friends. And friends always care about each other."

I rolled my eyes. "We are far from being friends, Nolan. Let alone best friends. You are stalking me. This is what it is called."

"Whatever you call it, the fact remains - I'm here, and I want to know how you feel about being Alan's new babysitter."

He smiled again, and I desperately wanted to slap him in the face. God, forgive me.

"What is wrong with the guy that everyone is so worried about me guarding him?"

"Nothing's wrong. He's a good guy actually. He likes drinking, smoking, girls, and car racing."

"Sounds like a typical description of a good guy."

"Sarcasm doesn't fit your pretty face, my angel. Alan is a good guy. You will see."

"Can't wait," I muttered, heading for the kitchen to get a piece of a strawberry pie I made earlier today.

"How can you think about food when your human is dying?" Nolan shouted after me.

I stopped and turned around, barely breathing. "What did you say?"

"Alan Rosenford was taken to the St. Mary's hospital about an hour ago. He kissed a tree with the bumper of his new car."

No more details were needed. I closed my eyes and sank into the red vortex of bittersweet smoke that took me straight to the hospital ward.

The moment I opened my eyes the smell of drugs hit my nostrils. I hated hospitals. To me they always looked overcrowded. Hundreds of lost souls, whose physical bodies died and were not allowed to ascend to the heavens, were flying everywhere, making people shiver and shrink from the pure cold they consisted of. Humans didn't see them, but I did.  And they did see me.

"He doesn't look good," Nolan said, coming closer to the bed where a guy in his mid-twenties was sleeping. He was on a drip; about a dozen multicolored cables went from his body to the monitors on his left.

"I'm sure you wouldn't look any better being him," I said, examining the numerous bruises and scratches on the guy's body. "How bad was the crash?"

"The boy will need a new car. But I don't think he cares about a few more scars. It's not his first accident."

"You said he's a car racer, right? How often does he get into accidents?"

"Every week or so."

"Does he even care about his life?" I didn't like people who risked their lives just to get an adrenaline rush. It meant their souls were hurt. And they didn't want to do anything to heal them. Stupid humans…they didn't know that losing a soul meant becoming demons.

"You didn't read his file, did you?" Nolan chuckled at his own words. He knew I didn't. "You should probably start reading files, Claire. It would save you plenty of time."

"Thanks for the advice, Nolan. Maybe one day I will follow it." I took Alan's hand in mine and tried to feel his soul. I was good at feeling souls. Not every angel could do that. It was one of my angelic powers that I had been trying to perfect every day, for the last seven centuries of my existence. And with every passing day, I could tell more and more about the souls I was guarding.

"He is a good person," I said, knowing that Nolan was still there with us. Every time I tried to feel someone's soul, it felt like sinking into the depths of multicolored oceans, where every single word, action and thought had its own shade.

"I told you," he said, and I smiled; my best friend liked being right.

Dive into the world of Hate at First Sight to see if hate can become something completely different…

Excerpt

When she opened it, she was wearing a short ivory nightgown, and she had a towel wrapped around her head.

"Aiden? I thought you left."

"I couldn't leave without saying good-bye. May I come in?"

She looked cautiously into the empty hall. "Sure."

"I thought you were old enough not to be afraid of your parents, seeing a guy sneaking into your room."

"Ha-ha, very funny." She grimaced at my comment. "And I thought you wouldn't dare sneak into my room after what happened tonight." She took off the towel and dropped it on her bed. Then she went to the mirror and started combing her hair.

"That's exactly why I'm here," I said, standing behind her.

"Don't even think about it," she said, looking at me through the mirror.

"Ever?" I smiled slightly, as I put my arms around her waist.

"Not now and not here."

"Okay. When and where?"

"I don't know."

"Wrong answer," I said, kissing her shoulder, my eyes never left hers. "Stop pretending, Megan. You want it as much as I do."

"So what?" She turned around to look at me.

"Wait for a few more days. I will come back and do anything you ask me to."

"What if I changed my mind?"

"You did?" I asked in a whisper. But I never let her reply, because when my lips found hers there was no time for talking. There was only pure desire that she was sending through my veins. The mere thought of my palms sliding under the thin fabric of her nightgown made me lose my mind. I was about to forget about the contract I needed to sign, about the morning meeting and everything else, but her.

Her hands traced down my back gently, making every muscle of my body tense. Her hair was still wet, and I wanted to tangle it with my fingers. The kiss was very slow and sensual, as if neither of us wanted to deepen it, teasing each other with the sensations it made us feel. She tugged at my shoulders, pulling me closer to herself.

I smiled down at her. "This is not fair, you know?"

"What?" she asked softly.

"You know what. First you are pushing me away, and now you seem to be really glad to have me for yourself. And you know that I can't stay, but you keep responding to my kisses, knowing that it's not making it easy to leave."

"Really? I didn't notice. But you are right. You need to go," she said, taking a step away from me.

"Would you let me stay in your bed if I didn't have to go?" I asked, taking a step closer to her.

"No."

"No?"

"I'm a decent girl, you know?"

"Oh, really? So how shall we solve this small problem? Will you join me in my bed?"

"I will think about it when you actually ask me to."

"Deal," I said. Then I leaned closer to give her one more kiss, and she never stopped me. "I'll be back in a few days. Will you wait for me?"

"No promises, remember?"

Yeah, well, somehow I didn't like the sound of it anymore….

When you think you are so close to getting what you want, think twice about your every step. Because what you think is the right thing to do may take away your life…

Excerpt

The flight to Dever was supposed to be fast and peaceful. But somehow the reality of my life likes to surprise me. And this time it brought me to another dream….

Christian and I were walking down an alley filled with flowers and sun. It looked like any other day we spent walking around the gardens of Dever, but I still felt that something was wrong. I tightened my grip on Christian's hand, and he stopped, cupping my face in his palms.

"Are you okay, Eileen?"

I was about to say something when I saw a horse, coming from behind the trees. It was black and beautiful, with a long silky mane and tail. She stopped a few feet away from us and snorted. Christian turned around, and his eyes widened. "Nelly, what are you doing here, girl?" He came closer to the horse, and she bent her head when he reached a hand to touch her.

"Is it yours?"

"Yes, I used to take riding lessons. Come here, don't worry, she won't hurt you."

I hesitated. It felt like the horse's black eyes were looking straight into my heart. And she didn't want me to come any closer….

"I don't think it's a good idea," I said, taking a step back.

But Christian didn't give up. "Come on. She will like you."

I hesitated again and then moved slowly to the horse. Her eyes never left mine.

When I stopped next to Christian, the horse snorted again and bent her head to touch my hair, as if she was sniffing me. She was huge, and I was a little scared. I don't know why, but her behavior sent shivers up and down my spine. But there was something mesmerizing about the way she was watching me. I wanted to touch the mane.

The moment my palm slid down the shining mane, the song started playing in my head. The wind was singing:

"Somewhere in the darkness is the road of light,

Let the music lead you to the secrets of the night,

Let the rivers save you from the falling stars,

Let the wind heal your heart and your bleeding scars.

Let the sand protect you from the flames of the sun,

When the storm grows wilder,

Don't be afraid, and don't run.

When the death comes to steal your life,

Fight it and win it, burning the dream to the ground."

The moment I opened my eyes, the song stopped, taking away my visions. I was on the airplane again, and Christian was sleeping peacefully by my side. Evan and Amanda were talking quietly to each other, but Christian's parents were nowhere around.

"Where are Patrick and Amelia?" I asked in a whisper.

"They are talking to the pilots about changing the course. The weather is getting rainy, and we will have to land and wait out a storm," Amanda replied. The mentioning of the storm reminded me of my dream, and I leaned closer to Christian, trying to comfort myself by his warmth. I wasn't ready for any fight or storm. The only thing I wanted was to get back to Dever as soon as possible.

"I can almost taste the fear coming from you," Christian said, half smiling, with his eyes still closed. "You okay?"

"Yeah," I said and tried to smile back, letting go of his hand. "Bad dream."

"Again?" he asked worriedly. He knew that my nightmares were a sign of something very bad coming. And sometimes it looked like problems were rolling down us like huge snowballs from the mountains. We didn't see the end of them.

"Have you ever had a horse named Nelly?"

             "No, I didn't. Why?"

"No reason. I must be imagining things." I put my head on Christian's shoulder, and he kissed my hair, pulling me to his chest.

"You can always talk to me, you know?"

"I know," I said and put my arm around his waist.

Christian knew me well enough to realize that there was something I didn't want to tell him now. And I didn't even know if the dream I saw was important. Maybe it was just a dream....

"Hardly," I muttered, answering my own question.

Diana nixon day 3

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Wednesday, March 26, 2014 0 comments

From Scratch

Our lives are a cascade of events that pass faster than we would like them to. Time changes everything. Our habits, our views, our circle of friends. But there is one thing that remains the same over the years.

Our memories.

Through them we cherish the most unforgettable moments of our history. And they also retain some things that can't be forgotten…. But one day you realize that yesterday should be left in the past. Because tomorrow your new life begins, and you go back to the drawing board. A love story of Evan Murray and Tara Mackenzie. A story that should last forever…. But no one knows when forever ends…

Excerpt

Taking a shower was just what I needed. Now I felt much better, more alive and self-collected. I wrapped a towel around my waist and went to my suitcase to find some clothes. My bags were tightly wrapped in a packing film they usually use at the airports to protect our baggage from being damaged. I sighed. Judging by the amount of cellophane on my suitcases, the customs officer had done his best to keep my belongings safe and secure. Now I needed to find something sharp to cut the transparent material and free my clothes. But I didn't have time to do anything of the above. I opened Kevin's wardrobe and took a pair of jeans and a sweater (thank God, we were the same size). I was just about to try the clothes when suddenly the bedroom door opened and warm arms locked around me.

"Where have you been? I couldn't find you," said a woman's sweet voice behind me. The hands that just a second ago were on my waist were now sliding slowly up my chest and to my shoulders. A moment later they touched my chin, making me turn around to see my unexpected guest.

She was standing there with her eyes closed. One of her palms was still on my shoulder and the other one touched my cheek.

"Mmm, I like your shampoo," the girl said, inhaling deeply and smiling dreamily. And then she did something I could have never predicted - she kissed me on the lips. The moment her tongue slid inside my mouth and touched the edge of mine I stopped breathing, losing the remnants of my thoughts in the taste of that kiss. I don't know why, but I desperately wanted to kiss her back. I embraced the girl, pulling her closer to my chest and deepened the kiss, enjoying the sweetness of her soft lips.

I had never gotten so much pleasure from a kiss. Every inch of my body was on fire, burning me slowly in the flames of desire, rushing through my veins. Damn, I had never met a girl who would be able to turn me on in seconds. And all I could think about at the moment was the amazing creature in my arms, driving me totally crazy with the closeness of her body, her touches and the mind-blowing scent of her skin.

"You've never kissed me like this before," she said, breathless. Her eyes were still closed.

I said the only thing I could come up with, "You've never asked me like this before."

The girl's eyelids flew open and she froze, shocked. She had the most amazing gray-blue eyes I had ever seen. And then... well, then followed a very predictable slap in my face.

"Who the hell are you?" the girl shouted. She was furious. "And what are you doing in Kevin's room? And how... how dare you touch me?" She took a few steps away from me. The situation seemed funny to me.

"Shall I remind you that you embraced me and kissed me first?" I said, chuckling.

"How dare you!" she flared up, turning red. "Don't come any closer!" she warned, as I took a step towards her. "Don't move or I will shout for help!"

"I don't think you can shout louder than you already are." I deliberately took one more step forward. "Weren't you the one dying to find yourself in my arms just a minute ago?"

"Stop!" she warned again. This time her voice sounded calmer. "Now, let's get back to the first question. Who are you?"

"I'd like to ask you the same question," I replied, coming closer. She didn't see what I saw - the door behind her back. I pinned her to that door and put my hands on both sides of her head, asking her her own question, "Who are you?"

"Oh, God!" she whispered, stunned; her eyes never left mine. "You are... Kevin's younger brother?"

"I didn't know I was so popular! I think I already like being here."

"Jeez," the girl groaned. "You should have stopped me!"

"And break such an amazing kiss?" My glance swept from her eyes to her delicious lips. The truth suddenly burst upon me. "No, you must be kidding me... you are Tara, right?"

"Nice to meet you Mr. Murray," she snapped in response.

I burst out laughing. "My goodness, Kevin's going to have a heart attack!"

"No! No way I'm gonna tell him!" Tara said, horrified.

I stopped laughing, trying to measure the degree of her fear, and realized that she was really scared.

"Don't worry, Honey, our small secret will die with me," I said, taking a step back.

"Thank you and… I'm sorry for jumping on you. I thought you were him."

"No need to apologize, Love. It was the first time I was actually glad to be taken for my brother. I don't regret a thing. It was nice to meet you, Tara," I said with a sly wink. I thought she would give me another slap, but the girl turned around and opened the door wordlessly. "Everything has its price," I called after her. She stopped abruptly."So has my silence."

If only she could kill me with a stare, I would have been already dead, because the moment Tara turned to look at me, her eyes were darting flashes of anger. "If you dare so say a word of what has happened here, I swear it will be the last word in your life!" she hissed.

"Really? Are you going to shut my mouth with another kiss?"

"Just stay away from me!" Tara turned to the door again. But I couldn't let her go like that. The kiss and the sweet talk were too enjoyable to end so soon.

"I will let you know when I decide how much my silence costs," I said before she left, shutting the door behind her. I shook my head, laughing, and started getting dressed.

#2 - Songs of the Wind

Losing Christian hasn't been easy for Eileen. But she's not going to give up. Now she has to find a way to bring him back from the magical dream, where he was taken by Eric Lanster. Together with her friend Evan, Eileen goes to France - Meridin's motherland, where she hopes to find out the mysteries of the dream's magic. In a small town named Fontainbleau they meet a wizard, who turns out to know a lot of their secrets…

Determined to help Eileen, Evan agrees to complete some special dream piercing training. But he can't even imagine what he has put himself into. The magic of dreams keeps a lot of secrets. The spells are dangerous and their consequences no one is able to predict.

Friends can become enemies…

The ones they used to call their family can become traitors…

But the ones they love will always be there to help…

Excerpt

The room was dark and silent. I needed some fresh air, so getting up from my bed and making sure I hadn't awakened Amanda and Evan, I tiptoed to the window. I had a non-stop torturing headache. It seemed that it didn't leave me even in all those beautiful dreams that Evan was sending me every night. Though the thought of him digging in my head with his magic tricks didn't make me happy.

I smiled, seeing him snoring quietly on our couch. He was our rescuer and he always helped those who needed his help. I don't know how he managed to be so strong and active all the time. Yet sometimes I could see traces of fatigue even on his usually perfect face.

"I wish I knew what your dream is about," I whispered, adjusting his half fallen blanket. "Is that Tara you are smiling so happily at?" I could only imagine how hard it was for him to see her in Dever again. There was no doubt about his feelings for that girl and I was more than sure that his love was still there - buried somewhere deep down in his heart. I felt sorry about their breakup, because it looked like Tara was sharing his feelings too. And you didn't have to possess any extraordinary abilities to see it. Her eyes lightened every time she saw him and her aura filled with bright pink sparkles that she didn't manage to hide in his presence.

With those thoughts in my head I came to the window. I was trying to open it when a strong blast of wind made me almost jump out of my skin. I wasn't scared by its force, rather by the effect it had on me. I could barely stand the wild headache. I pressed my fingers to my temples, trying to stop it, but nothing worked. It felt as if thousands of foreign languages were shouting in my head, tearing my brain apart. Cruelly.

I couldn't decipher a single word. But the more I was listening to my feelings the faster my headache was leaving. I turned around to make sure that everyone was still asleep and taking a deep breath I sat on the floor pulling up my legs to my chin. A few minutes of silence were just enough for me to calm down. Those strange words were still sounding in my head. And suddenly I realized that I knew them. They seemed so familiar… now I could repeat every word, coming from my mind. Someone was singing quietly:

"With every breath I touch your face,

I'm trying to keep you in my soul;

I wish I could have you in my embrace,

But I'm lost among the darkness and cold.…

You are my hope, you are my light,

You are everything that keeps me alive,

The day you find me in my night

Will be the fist day of my new life.

Just save me, my love, the music of my heart,

Set me free and make me feel again,

Give me your hand and let me feel your warmth,

Take me somewhere we would never be apart.

"It can't be possible," I whispered, stunned, my eyes wide-open. Those words seemed to be familiar not because of the fact that I'd heard them before, rather because of the way they were said - by Christian's voice. I could recognize it among millions of other voices. Though at that moment I wished someone was awake, because I desperately needed to hear that I still had it all together.

Diana Nixon week day one

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Saturday, March 22, 2014 0 comments

Today is the start of Diana Nixon week. Today we are taking a look at the first book in the  Love lines series.

#1 - Love lines

The traces of supernatural powers have always been crossing the world of human beings. Many people know about the existence of healers, mind readers, oneiromancers and wizards. But for centuries their lives have been kept secret and no one has ever heard about Dever, a kingdom of mysteries and magic.

Neither has Eileen Clark, whose life has never been different from the one other teenagers have.

Everything changes the day Eileen receives an invitation to join the ranks of Dever's students.

Nothing will ever be the same again…

New life, new friends, new enemies…

And love so powerful that no magic will be able to destroy…

Excerpt

For several nights I have had the same dream. I'm standing on the shore of a huge lake, and it seems to be so pure that the tiny grains of sand on its bottom can be seen through the crystal clear water. I want to touch the crystal surface, so I sit down and put my hand on it, watching a wonderful golden picture of complicated lace lines appear in front of me. It seems to be floating across the boundless lake, further and further away from my hand. I'm looking at it, mesmerized, until I notice a stranger's hand next to mine. It touches the water surface and begins to draw its own picture on top of mine, and though at first it seems to be different, I soon notice that the picture is identical to mine. The lines of my pattern that have already found their reflection in the stranger's picture begin to shine and sparkle with thousands of colors, creating an illusion of endless sunlight and warmth. But when I look up in the direction of the person standing next to me, I wake up with my heart beating fast and an odd tingling on my right shoulder. I get up, walk over to the mirror trying to see what could be wrong with my shoulder, but can't see anything unusual.

Question and Answer time with Author Diana Nixon

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Friday, March 21, 2014 0 comments
About the author:
Diana Nixon is a poet and the author of fantasy and contemporary romances.
She was born in Minsk, Belarus, where she currently lives. In 2008 she graduated from Belorussian state University. She has a Master of Law degree and speaks several foreign languages, including English, Polish and Spanish.

 Question and Answer time
What inspired you to write your first book?
Love Lines was a combination of everything that I wanted to see in a fantasy book: a complex plot, with lots of unpredictable twists, mysteries, magic and love of course. I guess my desire to create something new and memorable was the main thing that pushed me to writing. Besides, I loved the result so much, I couldn’t stop at one book:)
Do you have a specific writing style?
Readers always ask me about it, but my writing routine is very predictable: coffee, chapter, more coffee, more chapters:)
How did you come up with the title?
It was supposed to reflect the main idea of the book: love spell and a golden tattoo symbolizing the bond created by magic.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I think everyone who read Love Lines could see the importance of friendship and family relations between my characters. The book if full of touching moments that only people who truly care about each other can feel. This is what I wanted my readers to read between the lines: the significance of those things that we all have but maybe not always cherish:)
What book are you reading now?
It’s Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren. I truly enjoyed the first two books of a Beautiful Bastard series, and I hope this one won’t be a disappointment:)
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I never thought I would become a writer. But once I started working on Love Lines, I couldn’t stop. I don’t regret switching from International Law to writing books. Apparently it was time to let my artistic nature take control over me:)
Can you share a little of your current projects with us?
A few days ago I finished writing another contemporary/new-adult romance, named Love Undone – a beautiful love story, full of touching and spicy scenes, humor and other things that will make you swoon:) Another project that I’m working on at the moment is a book of poetry, called The Prisoners of Dreams. It will be written from the POV of one of my Heavens Trilogy characters. The dates for these releases are not set yet.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I don’t have a favorite author:) There are too many great authors and books to name only one. But I like reading books that make me want to read them more than once; the books that make me look at things from a different point of view; the books with strong characters and profound meaning.
Who designed the covers?
The covers for Love Lines series were designed by Jennifer Wieland (J. M. Rising Horse Creations). The cover for Hate at First Sight was created by Amina Black, who’s also working on the cover for Love Undone.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
You guys ROCK! I would never be able to write so many great stories without your help and support. All those wonderful words that you say about my books are worth spending days and nights working on them:) Thank you for everything!
What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life?
One of the main challenges is proofreading and editing of course – a real pain in every author’s neck, lol, but also an essential part of a writing process. One more thing that requires attention is a plot itself. I hate reading books that tell about one and the same thing, over and over again. I’m sure that even a love story can be unique. That’s why I try to make my books different, mixing beauty, puzzles and love together:)
What does your writing process look like?
First of all, I think about the title for a new book. It should be catching; and it should reflect the main idea of the story. Then I think about my character’s personalities and make a mental plan on how to describe them better. I never make plans on paper:) Then I choose names for my characters and places of the events. And then writing begins. I write about three chapters a day. Sometimes less, if my inspiration leaves me alone:) After the first draft of the manuscript is ready, I start reading it from the very beginning, making changes, adding or deleting things. When it meets my expectations, I send the text to the editor, after what I will read it at least two million times to make sure that it looks great:) That’s it. Then I publish the book and wait for the first reviews to be posted:)
Do you have any strange writing habits (like standing on your head or writing in the shower)?
Ahaha, no I don’t think so. The only writing habit that I can never get rid of is making new dialogs in my head, day and night.  In other words, I never stop writing:)
What book do you wish you could have written?
Well, that’s a hard question to answer. One of my favorites is P.S. I love you by Cecelia Ahern. I hope people love my stories as much I love this one:)
If you could cast your characters in the Hollywood adaptation of your book, who would play your characters?
Every time I see Taylor Swift I think she would by a perfect Eileen from Love Lines. I can see Chace Crawford as Christian Fairey and Ian Somerhalder as Evan Murray.
How important are names to you in your books? Do you choose the names based on liking the way it sounds or the meaning? Do you have any name choosing resources you recommend?
Only one of all my characters’ names was supposed to mean something special. Eileen. Her name means a bird. If you read Love Lines and Songs of the Wind (Love Lines, #2) you will find out what I needed it for:) The rest of the names were simply chosen to fit in the story, be beautiful and sound cool:)
What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
I think I have at least three things that I can be proud of and call my accomplishments. The first one was Master of Law degree. The second one was the birth of my wonderful daughter. And the third one is my writing of course:)
Do you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any advice on how to deal with the bad?
Sometimes I do. It helps me see my stories through the eyes of someone who, unlike or like me, thinks that they are great…or not:) Reviews can be bad, but it does not mean that your book is a disaster. I rarely receive bad reviews (keep my fingers crossed, lol) but even if one person doesn’t like your work, it does not necessary mean that you did something wrong. No. We simply can’t make everyone like what we do. Besides, people are free to express their opinion. There are books that I don’t like, and yes I won’t give them 5 stars, but maybe someone else will. It’s just that readers have different preferences and what one might like, someone else might hate. I don’t respond to bad reviews, ‘cause I’m sure it’s pointless. So if you see a bad review, don’t panic. Read it and move on, I’m sure there will be many great reviews that will overshadow everything written in a bad one:)
What is your best marketing tip?
Uh, marketing…Promote as much as you can:) Especially if you are a newbie and need to find more readers for your books. Don’t sit and wait for the readers to find your work, MAKE them notice it! :) Create your author page, Facebook group and fan page. Use Goodreds, Twitter and other social networks to spread the news about your book. The more you work (whether on writing or promoting) the more readers you will find and the more books you will sell.
What is your least favourite part of the publishing / writing process?
Waiting for the book to come out:) Even though when it happens, I don’t feel the same rush of emotions as the day I finished the manuscript, lol
Is there one subject you would never write about as an author? What is it?
Violence, either physical or mental.
Do you have a favourite conference to attend? What is it?
I attended a few on-line conferences created for Indie authors. I’m a hybrid author now (hate the word, but still:)) and I hope I will attend more writing events in the future.
Is there a certain type of scene that's harder for you to write than others? Love? Action?
Love scenes require more time and patience, since they need to be emotional and touching. Somehow action scenes are easier for me to work on. I simply let my imagination do its best:)
Characters often find themselves in situations they aren't sure they can get themselves out of.  How do you decide you are going to handle these situations?
I imagine myself being one of the characters and think of what I would do in the same situation. It always helps:)
What do you want your tombstone to say?
Oh God, the hardest question ever:) Can I leave it without an answer?:) I don’t think I know what to say. I only hope those people who will compose the inscription will never regret being a part of my life…
What literary character is most like you?
I guess it depends on my mood. Angel, demon, witch, lazy cat or a vampire dying to kill everyone of her way, lol
What is something you want to accomplish before you die?
I want to leave behind something that will help people remember me for as long as they are alive…:)
If you could have any accents from anywhere in the world, what would you choose?
Australian English:) I like its softness and melodiousness.
Thank you for the awesome interview! It was my pleasure to answer the questions:)

Briar Roseby Jana Oliver

Synopsis

A dark and sexy reimagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale from the author of THE DEMON TRAPPERS.

For Briar Rose, life is anything but a fairy tale. She's stuck in a small town in deepest Georgia with parents who won't let her out of their sight, a bunch of small-minded, gossiping neighbours and an evil ex who's spreading nasty rumours about what she may or may not have done in the back of his car. She's tired of it all, so when, on her sixteenth birthday, her parents tell her that she is cursed and will go to sleep for a hundred years when the clock strikes midnight, she's actually kind of glad to leave it all behind. She says her goodbyes, lies down, and closes her eyes . . . And then she wakes up. Cold, alone and in the middle of the darkest, most twisted fairy tale she could ever have dreamed of. Now Briar must fight her way out of the story that has been created for her, but she can't do it alone. She never believed in handsome princes, but now she's met one her only chance is to put her life in his hands, or there will be no happy ever after and no waking up. Less

Review
I honestly enjoyed this story. Briar is a strong main character and I loved the development between her and her friends
On her sixteenth birthday, Briar’s mother has a massive panic about her being out past midnight . This is when we learn of the curse on Briar though you don't find out until later the course.

Briar wakes up in the woods, close to a village that you would expect to be from a good few hundred years ago. But, there are also elements of the new in the village as there are creations made from metal, things being turned into metal etc.

Oliver has beautifully written her own fairy tale in Briar Rose with detailed descriptions to give a sharp image in the readers mind to make the story come alive.

An enjoyable read in a new fairy tale world
