The Skojare people need protection from the same brutal enemy that’s been threatening the Kanin, and Bryn is there to help. Being half Skojare herself, it’s also a chance for her to learn more about her lost heritage. Her boss, Ridley Dresden, is overseeing her mission, but as their undeniable attraction heats up, their relationship is about to reach a whole new level—one neither of them is prepared for.

As they delve deeper into the Skojare world, they begin to unravel a long-hidden secret. The dark truth about her own beloved Kanin kingdom is about to come to light, and it will change her place in it forever…and threaten everyone she loves.

Review

Every time I open a book by Amanda Hocking, I am pulled so deeply  into the world and story that before I realized it I have finished the book.

In Ice Kissed, we return to the world of the Kanin.   Bryn still  feels there is more to the disappearance  of the Skojare
On returning to Kanin Bryn has to tell the King what really happened which leaves the king with no  choice but to declared war on Konstanin.

Bryn continues to blames herself but there is something that makes her then that Konstanin isn't the enemy.

Then there is her friendship with Ridley. It's clear from the start that Bryn feels something but is to scared to become emotional involved. As this could cast her everything she has dreamed and work so hard for.

Where in Frostfire, Bryn was capable, but still appeared to be unsure of her self. But as  Ice Kissed progress we see her grow to become fierce, determined and confident.

I loved being transported to the watery Skojare kingdom, along with the flirtatious, and somewhat  sleazy prince Kennet.

Everyone seem to have a secret agenda.  From the guards to king. But it is a testament to Bryn's character, that she refused to give up, or compromise her character.

Then throughout the story you have Konstanin popping in and out. As if he is trying to protect Bryn. He seems to always be in the background.

Though ice kissed will leave you with more questions than answers. It will create a incredible third novel.
This is definitely a series to add to your to read pile this year.

Invaded (Alienated, #2)by Melissa Landers

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Thursday, May 21, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe...until a threat to both their worlds reunites them.

Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.

Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life.

The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

Review

I loved the first book in this series and was very excited to see what would happen next.

In the first novel we are introduced Cara and Aelyx. Brought together by a intergalactic student exchange program. But when things go wrong  resulting in the death of a student, Aelyx takes Cara and flees the planet for safety.  Invaded picks up were Alianated left off.

Invaded opens with Cara on her way to L'eihr alone after the L'eihr Elders decided to send Aelyx back to Earth to help rebuild the alliance between the two planets. They were supposed to start a life together on L'eihr , but now Aelyx is in Manhattan with Ambassador Stepha. So alone She must learn to survive in a new world.

Aelyx finds life on Earth has gotten more dangerous, with  someone determined to assassinate him.

Living separately in two different galaxies begins to take its toll on Aelyx and Cara's relationship. Cara believes that Syrine is making a move on  Aelyx, which leaves her second guessing her decision to leave her world and family.

Melissa Landers does an excellent job of creating suspense and developing layers of intrigue.

The characters of Cara, and Aelyx become more fully developed in Invaded. We are also  introduced to a few new characters including  Alona, Larish, Vero and  David.  There are also two young Elders, Jaxen and Aisly who become a intrical part of the story. You also notice that throughout the story Jaxen seems to have some kind of crush on Cara.

I also loved the way Melissa explores how prejudices which are usually formed when people encounter those who are different can be changed. Syrine found humans disgusting when she first went out with Aelyx on a public-relations tour. However, gradually her encounters with the sick children and David changed how she viewed humans.

melissa ties up most of her loose ends but does leave room for a third novel in the series.  I can not wait to find out what happens next.

Frostfire (Kanin Chronicles, #1)by Amanda Hocking

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Saturday, May 09, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.

Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who's determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She's not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.

But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

Review

This first book in the amazing new  series by Amanda Hocking. Readers are invited back to the world of trolls.

There is something about these books and the way Amanda,  that seems to make you feel as if you have been reading these books your whole life.

Bryn is half Skojare, half Kanin. She has always been an outcast in the Kanin tribe, because of her differences.  But her differences make her work even harder,so that she can be a successful tracker, and eventually, a member of an elite Guard of the King.

But when a mission does not going according to plan and a traitor who hurt her father reappears, Bryn will have to make some decisions.
For some reason that she can not explain,  She has a feeling that Konstantin isn't simply a traitor, and that there is something larger at play.

It was great yo see the world from the Trylle trilogy expanded. In this book, we get more insight on the other tribes, not just the Kanin tribe.

Also, it was nice to see the characters of the trylle trilogy sneak in from time to time. It will be interesting to see as the series continues if they continue it make appearances.

There is potential for a  romance between Bryn and Ridley, but it doesn't seem set in stone. They shared a kiss and there was feelings, but they didn't become a couple.

This is a great start to the series. If you're a fan of the Trylle trilogy, and have missed this world you will definitely want to pick this one up.

Make yourself a cuppa and get comfy. Because once you start you will not want to stop.

Review

Is that foot steps or a voice?

Is there some in strange in the  photo you took?

This book tells the story of Sunshine. Sunshine and her mun pack up there life and move from Austin, Texas to Ridgemount, Washington. Where they rent a small home they found on craigslist. But from the moment they pull up in the driveway Sunshine knows there is something off about this house. Everything is foggy, cold and wet. From the very first night, Sunshine hears the footsteps on the floors, the giggling of a little girl and soon experiences her items moving around her room and board games set up ready to be played. Sunshine is quite positive that the spirit haunting her home is a little girl but, is it really only one spirit?

With the help of a book smart boy from school,  Sunshine learns about her life, the spirit in her house as well as what her future will hold.

The characters are likeable and easy to relate to. Sunshine is smart, brave, and isn't focused on material things.  There is a second POV that pops in every now and then. I did find this a little confusing at first. You don't know who it is or what they're talking about but as the story progress you learn a little more about them.

I loved the constant suspense and anticipation.  Though if you are someone who gets creeped out by people talking about books then this is definitely not for you.

Not sure if this book is for you add it to your TBA pale and check out the YouTube channel.

It will be interesting to see how this story will progress in the next book.
