Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Saturday, October 27, 2012 0 comments

I know that there has been thousands of reviews on twilight. So this isnt a review this is a recommendation

With the final movie in the Twilight series coming out in a couple of weeks. (I hope you have your tickets) I thought it would be a great opportunity to take a look at the amazing books that started it all.

I have to admit the Twilight series is where my love affair with reading began. Before I picked up Twilight I had never really enjoyed reading, it was one of those things that you had to do at school, but had never court my interest.   Now I wish I hadn't waited so long to fall in love with it.

With each book containing it’s on smaller story; while at the same time continue to tell the lager story. At its heart it is a story of Love, which is why its appeal was so large. Everyone wants to find that one true love. Their soul-mate. It was easy to related to parts of the characters lives in the story, from the need to fit in, to be accepted, to find their place in the world  and the pain of losing the one you love.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the series was that it made you feel like you were actually there as the story unfolds. Whether it was cold and wet day at Forks high school, the rock-pools at Lu push, the shops at Port Angeles, or the streets of Italy.  The way elements of the story are described and the imagery that is use pulls you into the story.

The characters in this series are each intriguing and could all easily have there on book. I would love to read the story of Alice and Jasper for example.

The Twilight series is one of those stories that are going to be known as a classic. It was part of the paranormal story revelation. It has inspired people to read again.

This is one of those series that everyone should read at least once in their life. (I’m my case and so many others way more than once) I would recommend reading it before you see the movies. As it adds a greater understanding and knowledge to the story that you are seeing

Story

What would you choose?

 She had everything but freedom.

He had nothing but his loyalty, his wits and his training.

She was a prisoner, a disease, not fit for the world, and she didn't know why. But she did know she wasn't allowed to die, she wasn't allowed to live and she wasn't sane.

He was a soldier, a protector, but his foundation will be tested when he must destroy the only light in his dark world. Thrown together, prisoner and keeper, their rebellion will splinter through time, changing the course of history and the fate of the world. Their love will challenge their greatest enemy and immortalize them forever. Loyalty. Freedom. Love.
What would you risk?
"Let me die." Pain darkened his eyes. "Never."

Endlessly by Kiersten White

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Monday, October 15, 2012 0 comments

The time has come for another beautiful series to take its final bow, or in this case open a gate and leave. I have to say I was really intrigued  to see what was going to happen in Endlessly and how the series would end. Would Evie and Lend get their happily ever after?
Would the fairies take over the world?
Or would IPCA need for control end in war?
I am very happy to say that Kiersten White raised the bar again with this book. Endlessly was a fun and entertaining read and the perfect way to end this spirited series.
These books are the perfect light summer reading .

All Evie has ever wanted is to be a normal girl. No IPCA and especially no Fairies!
However every time Evie thinks she is free, someone or something keep pulling her back into the paranormal world. Now IPCA under new management  and they are determined to bring her back into their control – however it may not be for the reasons Evie thinks. Not to mention that their new leader knows more then she is letting anyone else know. Will a deal with the dark side final bring down IPCA ?  Evie is going to have some very difficult choices to make and she only has a small amount of time to make them. No matter what she decided to do  there will be long reaching effects on not just her but every faerie, paranormal creature and human so she must be careful to make the right decision. Will she help the paranormals return home before it is to late?
Luckily Evie has the support of her friends and Lend  to help her but she also has a few surprising allies that she isn't sure are completely trustworthy.  I love Evie. Such a fun character and a force to be reckoned with along with her beloved Tasey (of course). She shows that a girl can be tough and look cutie while doing it .
In a world going to hell would you be willing to risk everything to help the ones you love?
I really don't want to say to much about the story as I don’t want to give away how the story will end.

THE STORY
Evie's paranormal past keeps coming back to haunt her. A new director at the International Paranormal Containment Agency wants to drag her back to headquarters. The Dark Faerie Queen is torturing humans in her poisonous realm. And supernatural creatures keep insisting that Evie is the only one who can save them from a mysterious, perilous fate. The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its fate rests solely in Evie's hands. So much for normal.

Witch By Fiona Horne

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Friday, October 05, 2012 0 comments

Ever felt like you just don’t fit in?
 That you’re a freak?

Maybe you’re a witch.

Witch by Fiona Horne is the perfect book for a sunny afternoon. With character that everyone can relate and identify with.

After spending her life growing up in Australia Vania parents decide it’s time to move back to Summerland, California.

Vania is your average 16 year old girl. A little bit of a loner who wants nothing more than to fit in at school and maybe even have a boyfriend.
When her over protective parents decide to move from Australia back to Summerland where Vania was born.  Her life will change for ever

After being treat like crap by some of the popular kids, Vania fell even more out of place. That is until Bryce ( one of the popular girls boyfriend) decides he has had enough of the  way the popular group is treating everyone in particular Vania, and decides that he wants to hang out with her.
As Vania finds her place with her new friends Amelia and Alyssa and new boy Dean. They discover that they all share not only an interest in magic, but a knack and decide to form a coven.
Wanting to use their new found powers for good, they decide to solve an unsolved murder of a woman. However this may be one door that should have been left closed.

The way the group comes together does happen very fast. But I believe that this is to show that they are drawn together. That magic calls to other magic. It also adds to the idea that everyone has a place that they truly belong.

I loved the friends in this story and found myself wishing I had friends like them (in particular the twins. )

As in any good story, there is a villain. I did find that the villain was a little easy to predict. I would of loved for there to be more than one person who it could have been, but once I had finished the book and thought about it I think it was obverse from the start.

The story’s mystery and unfolding plot, were easy to follow and to a point there were no huge surprises. I found that  Fiona Horne's own life experience with witchcraft really shone through, and made the story more authentic. With careful attention being paid to the details including spells, ingredients, the moon, and the power of positive thinking.  With her also touching on spiritualist/medium elements, which was interesting and I wish that there had been more of.

Witch would make the perfect novel for those who are just starting to read YA or for someone who is looking for the perfect holiday read. So cast a spell and get your self a copy today

You will be bewitched by this tale
The story
Vania has felt like an outsider her entire life so when she moved from Australia to Summerland, California, the last thing she expected to feel was that she'd come home. But there's something about this picturesque town that feels familiar to Vania. And powerful. And while Vania knows that the power is good, there is something evil stalking her too. Something or someone determined to hunt her down before she becomes too strong. But whatever is coming for Vania hasn't bargained on Bryce: the good-looking school captain with his own secret. Protecting Vania though may come at a price.
