Review

Let me start by saying I love Amanda Hocking  Trylle  series, which first introduced  us to the world of Trylle  and I love the Karin series. Crystal  Kingdom  is the final book in the Kairn series and it doesnt disappoint.

Crystal Kingdom picks up where Ice kissed ended. Everything  and everyone in Bryn life is at risk, as the world she knows falls apart. With no choice  she is on the run, and has done her best to stay off the radar. But that hasn't stopped Konstantin from found her. He claims to be on her side, to want to aid in her quest against evil, but can she trust him?

Being the final book in the series  you would hope for action and adventure was at it’s highest. Crystal Kingdom  delivers. We get to vist a few troll community. There is also a few twist and turns  that will leave you enthralled  to the very end.

When it comes to supporting characters we have some pretty amazing supporting roles. First we have the beautiful letters from Ember, which keeps us up to date with what is happening at home while Bryn's on the run. The romance between Ridley and Bryn, though with  Konstantin you can see the potential  for a love triangle.  Konstantin seems to have more of the over protective  older brother vibe  going on.

Overall i really loved this series and Crystal Kingdom is agreat end to the series but I also felt that perhaps  the door was left open a small crack for another  book .

If you haven't picked up this series or added it to your to read pile today.

Synopsis

This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying experiences that others in her hometown of Salem take for granted, which is why she is determined to enjoy her first high school party with her best friend and longtime crush, Tristan. But after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class, Lily wishes she could just disappear.

Suddenly, Lily is in a different Salem—one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruelest of them all is Lillian . . . Lily's other self in this alternate universe.

What makes Lily weak at home is what makes her extraordinary in New Salem. In this confusing world, Lily is torn between responsibilities she can't hope to shoulder alone and a love she never expected.

Review

Finding a exciting and engrossing series featuring witches can be  pretty hard, as they are sometimes so predictable,  But Josephine Angelini has created a imaginative, and intriguing story.

This is the story of  Lily a relatively normal teenage girl who battles a variety of allergic reactions  and having a mum with mental health issues . Her one saving light is her best friend who finally started to notice her as more then a friend. She knows that with her health detiriating she won’t be able to go to school much longer and the only thing she dreams about is to go for a party with her boyfriend best friend, even though it’s dangerous for her health.
But when her dream turns into a nightmare she is left heart broken and ready to escape it all. Though she could never have imagined  that following the voice in her head would change her life.

To survive Lily has no choose but to imbrace who she is in this world and  learning to become a witch.

There is a  war brewing in the background of the story that provides  the  story with an ominous vibe that leaves you waiting for the war to start.

Like any good stories there is  lot to learn, from secrets to the history of the Lily in this world.

The world, character, and relationship building in this story is well written and thought out. Though the ending was a little  abrupt, it does leave you anticipating what will hapoen next.

Looking for a witch story with a difference? This is the book for you.

Review

Heir of Fire undoubtedly takes the story of Celaena to a whole new level.

In  Heir of fire we see Celaena become  more than broken. She is  relentlessly blaming herself for the fates and deaths of the ones see loves. She final reaches breaking point and takes down her shields.

But by taking thwse shields down and facing her past she is able to move forward and become  stronger, wiser and more determined. She's not proud of who she's become or what she has done over the past 10 years but she's ready to make a change.

We get to meet  some new characters  in Heir of Fire, they include Rowan the fairy  prince, Queen Maeve, Manon Blackbeak, and Aedion Ashryver. With their introduction  we are able to see the world from multiple prospective  and get a better understanding  of how the world has been effected by magic leaving and the King of Adarlan.

The King of Adarlan is still set on, well  global domination. He does not seem to care what he has to do to reach his goal. Though a key thing we learn during a flash back is that h e has been planning  and manipulating everyone for years.

Heir of Fire take us on a  darker and gritty journey. With twist and turns that will leave you wanting to know what will happen next.

Sisters of Blood and Spirit (The Sisters of Blood and Spirit , #1)by Kady Cross

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, August 02, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis
Wren Noble is dead—she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.

Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands—the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn’t exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she’s not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.

Now the guy who saved Lark’s life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins—who should know better than to mess with the dead—may be their only hope of staying alive.

Review

Ever felt like you don't fit in. That everyone thinks your crazy.
Well that is the case for Lark. Except  she isn't crazy.
Lark is like any other teenager struggling to find her place in the world. But unlike everyone  else she isn't doing it alone, she has her twin sister Wren by her side.

Lark and Wren are identical twins, minus two small things their hair colour and that Wren is dead.
Wren was a stillborn, meaning she was dead at birth. However she has been  growing up right alongside Lark. But no one else can see her  expect Lark.

The plot of the book begins simple. Lark has been sent back to live with her grandmother after her parents decide that they can nolong deal with her. On returning  she is approached by  a group of people who have been marked and attached by ghost, and now they need Lark and Wren's help.

But to help there new friends Lark and Wren  will have to confront their deepest fears and the  past.

This book was fast-paced, taking place literally within a week. Though the book was fast past you didn't feel like the book was missing anything from the story.

Lark is a very relatable in the scenes  that she has faced a lot of ridicule and bullying. She doesn't trust others easily, as she's been hurt time and time again, and because of that, her character is quiet defensive.

Wren, in contrast, is optimistic through she is very protective of Lark.  She's more open to the experiences of  the living. (making friends, falling in love.)

This book does contain a bit of romance, but it doesnt control or overwelm the story.

I loved the ending. It left you in a bit of suspense with the introduction of two new characters, but it also ended in away that you are not having to wait for the next book to find out what happens.

Looking for something a little spooky.then this is for you.
