Hades by Alexandra Adornetto

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, September 23, 2012 0 comments

Hades is the second book in the series by author Alexandra Adornetto

The title of the book Hades does give you a good idea that Hell is going to be the topic in this book. Though I was pleasantly surprised with the overall story.

Since battling the evil Jake Thorn and his minions in Halo ( first book in the series)  Beth and her angel siblings are  still protecting Venus Cove from the Dark Forces.
Then there is Beth’s relationship with Xavier. The two have grown much closer since hell tried to break loose. So close in fact that they are really never apart. Which is starting to get on some of Beth’s friends nerves. So when the girls decide to hold  a girls only  séance – Despite Beth begging them not to- Beth feels it is her duty to take. But things go terrible wrong Turning what should have been a  night of fun into Beth’s worst nightmare When they inadvertently invite Jake back from the Underworld. Jakes eyes a clearly set on Beth and tricks Beth into taking a ride on his motorcycle.
Beth is in an angels worst nightmare hell. And Big Daddy ( Lucifer) knows she is there.
At times I even found myself feeling pity and sympathy for Jake. Even wondering if there was a little piece of pure angel left in him. However then he would always  turns back into the incredible jerk we all know him to be.

Bethany character gains such confidence and courage in Hades. Though at times she does remind me of a helpless lost child We also learn that she has more strength and possibly power then she has ever imagined.

In Hades we also meet a mix of new characters that at times you don’t know if you should love them or hate them.

Throughout the story we learn so much more about the character and the world Adornetto has created in Hades. With detailed descriptions that will leave us all hoping that we never have to set foot in hell.

The ending of the book will have you chomping at the bit for the next one to be released

Will her family and friends get to her before it is to late or will Beth become another fallen angel?
The story
Jake Thorn and his demons have been banished and Xavier and Bethany settle down to resume a normal life. But on the night of Halloween, a childish prank goes terribly wrong and Jake is summoned back to the sleepy town of Venus Cove. Bethany is deceived and like the mythical Persephone she finds herself dragged into the nightmarish underworld of Hades.

While the angels call on higher powers to help rescue Bethany, Jake decides to play dirty and goes after the one thing she loves more than anything. But to spare Xavier′s life, Bethany must make the ultimate sacrifice. Will she make a deal with the Devil? And what will happen to an angel in Hell?

Fury by Rebecca Lim

First of all please bear in mind that this is the last book in the series and a such my review may contain spoilers for the previous books.
Let me start by being completely honest, I really loved the first 3 books in this series. But I have to say that I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I would have liked to.  Im not sure why but I really struggled to get into the story and it took me a long time to read the book.
The story starts of were the last book left off. With our lead character still struggling to deal with who and what she really is. Luc literally raising hell on earth and our love struck Ryan stuck in the middle of a war between heaven and hell. Funnily enough the book finishes where the series started ( in paradise). Therefore doing a complete circle.
Mercy and Ryan must endure a road trip rescue mission to not only save themselves but the world. The locations and descriptions throughout this book a clear and detailed and at times you can really visualise the story.
The way in which the peripheral characters from the previous books that were able to ‘see’ Mercy for who she really was plays a vital part in the plot in this book. Providing a way to  tying up loose ends. It also shows how much impact  Mercy had on the lives of the people around her.
Although I really enjoyed the series there are some holes within the plot. E.G   Mercy is initially portrayed as Luc’s partner in crime which she has to atone for. Another gap in the story is the promise that binds Luc to Mercy is never fully revealed, as is the fact that we never find out her true name. This may be a selective chose by the author so that if  Rebecca  wishes to she can  revisit the story and write another book .
Though I didn’t enjoy the final book as much as I would have liked to it does not mean that you won’t. The series is full of love action and hope. It asked the question can love really conquer all ?

The story
Hell hath no fury like an angel scorned…

Heartbreak. Vengeance. Truth. Betrayal.

Everything that has happened to Mercy over millennia has made her who she is. Now she and The Eight wage open war with Luc and his demons, and the earth is their battlefield.

Ryan’s love for Mercy is more powerful than ever, her guiding light in the hour of darkness. But the very love that sustains her, now places Ryan in mortal danger.

Two worlds collide as Mercy approaches her ultimate breathtaking choice.

Hell hath no fury like Mercy …

The Dark Glamour BY Gabriella Pierce

The Dark Glamour is the second book in this Intriguing and indulgent series by author Gabriella Pierce.

In the first book we were introduced to our leading lady Jane Boyle, who is swept up in a whirlwind romance by the man of her dreams. Only to find out that everything is not as it seems.

The Dark Glamour takes up where the 666 Park Avenue left off.

Jane is now in hiding, from not only the Doran family but her friends as well.  With there being nowhere in the world that Jane can escape from her evil mother-in law Lynne’s connections Jane decides to hid in the one place that they may not think to look for her New York City. After collecting the money and a glass unicorn  that Malcolm has left her, she decides to reach out and contact her friend Dee.

Though there are small glimpse of here other friends, the one I would have love to have seen more of ( Harris)  only makes small appearances but the books ending may mean that he will have a bigger part in the next book.

In this book there is a major plot twist and we are introduction of 3 new characters.

There are the brother and sister duo from another witch bloodline  who Jane learns are in  negotiations with the Doran family. André the brother also happens to have a thing for our leading lady or Ella as he knows her. But is this real or is this just a result of their magic bloodlines calling to each other. Though there are some hot and heavy sense (no of which compares to her and Malcolm)

Then you have the major twist in this story happen when Jane things she is doing a tracking spell to find Malcolm. But Malcolm is not who she finds. Jane finds  Annette Malcolm’s sister and  Lynne’s presumed dead daughter. Who isn’t as dead as her family had thought she was.
Jane believing that this is the only way to get Lynne to leave her and Malcolm alone, is to go on a search for Annette and bring her home. However this may be one secret that Jane should have left alone. As the result may make everything worse than Jane could have imagined.

Jane is a very strong and caring character that at times has a haphazard’s attitude of act first then deal with the consequences. As a result throughout this book there were moments where I question not only Jane’s judgement but her sanity. Staying in a city where your face is on every TV and magazine, not to mention hooking up with someone on team Lynne

I love the twist and the ending that leaves you wanting dying to find out what happens next.

Though there are sections of this book that I wish there had been longer and more indept, I enjoyed every moment of it .

The Story

Jane Boyle married her prince charming and moved into his upper east side castle—but she didn’t get her fairy-tale ending
It’s hard to live happily ever after when you discover your demanding and controlling mother-in-law is literally a witch, determined to steal the magical powers you didn’t even know you had. Jane narrowly avoided Lynne Doran’s clutches when she escaped on her wedding day, and has been hiding out in New York City. But she can’t hide forever.
When Jane learns of the one thing Lynne wants most, she sets out to provide it, hoping her good turn will persuade her mother-in-law to stop hunting her. Unfortunately, Jane’s daring plan will send her right back into the witches’ den—the Doran clan’s multistory town house on Park Avenue. But thanks to a tricky spell, blond architect Jane will be transformed into Ella, a dark beauty with a whole new look . . . and all of Jane’s budding powers. Though the stakes are life or death, nobody said “Ella” couldn’t have a little fun along the way, too.
