Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, March 06, 2016 0 comments

Synopsis

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart ..

Review

This book has been on my TBA pile for a little while and I wish I had read it earlier.

I loved the fact that even though I'd never read The Red Queen before, it felt as if I had read it a thousand  times.  The story and characters all felt  familiar,  pulling you into their world.

Red Queen tells the story of Mare Barrow is a pickpocket but her time is running out. Like her brothers her 18th birthday is coming and that means a future of serving as a solder. That is because Mare is born into a world were the colour of your blood decides your standing in the world. If you are a silver blood then the world is yours. Food, weather,  security, life and power all come to the silver blood. But if your  blood is red, then you are considered a lesser been. They live in poverty, forced to fight in wars and sacrifice there lifes.

The problem  is Mare's blood isn't like everyone  else. She is different, a mutation. A red born with the power of a Silver, who falls straight  into the world of the silvers.

Mare is given a route out of the slums, away from her fate of war. After a chance meeting she is summoned  to the palace to work, but this one act of attempted kindness is going to change her world and the world around her forever.
Now in a bid to placate the hunger for a rebellion, she becomes a Red in disguise as a Silver, betrothed to the King’s second son. But it is the king's first son Cal who captures her attention.

The characterisation was fantastic. We have a set of characters that are tenuous in their beliefs but deep down they are flawed.  Mare Barrow is in it to survive. She knows the stakes and I appreciated her character growth as she realises that there is a greater cause at hand. Cal, the crown prince, lives under the delusion of hierarchy.   Mavenlingers in the backdrop, the second son to a kingdom that will never be his. But you can tell that there is more to him then what u see.
After all anyone can betray you.

Red Queen  is a a twisted tale of love life and betrayal  that will have you hooked from the start.

The Siren by Kiera Cass

Synopsis

From Kiera Cass, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Selection series, comes a captivating stand-alone fantasy romance.

Akinli is human—a kind, handsome boy who's everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. Falling in love puts them both in danger . . . but Kahlen can't bear to stay away. Will she risk everything to follow her heart?

Published -January 26th 2016 by HarperTeen
Original Title -The Siren
Edition - Language -English
Setting - Port Clyde (United States)

Review
Siren is the first book by Kiera Cass  that I have read.  The Siren  is the story of Kahlen, along with her sisters and the Ocean. A siren is a singer, a singer of the Ocean. In order to maintain herself, the Ocean must feed; sirens help her to do that. They serve the Ocean for 100 years, but when Kahlen meets a human  boy her life will never be the same.

This is a straight  forward and classic story. Girl meets boy falls in love but it is forbidden.  But it is because  of this traditional  element that it makes it a beautiful  love story.

Love is a strong theme throughout this story. The love of a parent, love of a sister, love of family, love of the partner. It explores each of these relationships  as the story  unfolds and characters are introduced.

The characters Cass creates are clear and full of life, whether they are a major or a minor. Even the Ocean takes life as she  speaks, and  breathes.

This is the perfect book for a weekend read. So put the kettle on and get comfortable.

Synopsis

“Life is full of crossroads, Alex. Full of choices.”

Despite the magical wonder of Medora, Alex’s life remains threatened by Aven Dalmarta, the banished prince from the Lost City of Meya who is out for her blood.

To protect the Medorans from Aven’s quest to reclaim his birthright, Alex and her friends seek out the Meyarin city and what remains of its ancient race.

Not sure who—or perhaps what—she is anymore, all Alex knows is that if she fails to keep Aven from reaching Meya, the lives of countless Medorans will be in danger. Can she protect them, or will all be lost?

Review

I received  a ARC copy from Pantera Press  for a honest review.

As this book is due for release  towards the end of March. With that in mind i am going to try my best not to spoil the story for you.

With that said  this is the second  book in this series so if you haven't read the first 1, Stop reading this review and start reading Akarnae. (The first book in the series.)

It's time for Alex to return to school, after returning home for the holidays.  Though even that simple task wasn't without drama, but since she arrived  in Medora  Alex life seems to be filled with drama.

What better way to celebrate  her return then attending a party at the palace to celebrate her best friend D.C  or should we say Princess  Delucia Cavelle. Who hasn't made a public appearance  in years.  There is one small catch no one at school knows who D.C really is. So when a few  people from school arrive including their best friends Bear and Jordan,  Alex tries her best to keep D.C secret.

With the school back in its time for Alex and the gang to get back to into the swing of things with combat, equestrian, and archery classes. Though without even trying Alex ends up getting  her self into Hunters exclusive SAS class. A class that everyone ones to be in, well everone except Alex. But making it through Hunters class is the least of her worries. Aven is still hot on her trail determined  to get her to open the door  to the lost city of Meya at any cost.

To spice things up a little Lynette  has not only do we get to meet a few interesting  new characters into the mix. But she has also added a little spark of romance( which I hope we will see bloom in the next book)

I have to warn you the ending of Raelia  will leave you shocked and screaming for more.  You will  more then likely  read the last few pages a couple of times to make sure you have read it correctly.

If you love books like Harry Potter, House of night, and The Last of the Firedrakes ( just to name a few ) then you are going to love this series.

Lynette  has created a world  that once you enter you never want to leave. So open the door and join us in this fantastic  world

Review

This is the type of book I love to do read.  It hooks you from the start and leaves you wanting  more. Full of magic, mystery and intrigue.

The story begins with our leading ladies Aurora living in hell. Her adoptive parents  have passed away and she is sent to live with her adopted  aunt, uncle and cousin . At home she is unloved and unwanted. Her school life isn't any better.

Midnight Falls ( Sky Brooks #3 ) by McKenzie Hunter

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Saturday, January 09, 2016 0 comments

Synopsis

Skylar has finally accepted that her life will never be simple again. As a host to a spirit shade and a werewolf with the ability to manipulate magic, she has many enemies in the otherworld just for being what she is—an anomaly. In possession of dark magic that she can barely control, she lived in constant fear for her life until she joined the Midwest Pack.

The Midwest Pack was supposed to keep her safe and make things less chaotic. Instead, she is pulled into a clandestine world with strange politics and secrets. With secrets come danger and when some are discovered, Skylar finds herself protecting the pack and saving the life of the Beta. But Skylar is cursed for her good deed by the Creed, the ruling body of the witches.

Complicating her life even more, the Midwest Pack becomes responsible for protecting the Clostra, a book of magic. In the wrong hands, it can destroy the otherworld and force a battle that no one can win.

All Skylar ever wanted was a normal life, so when she meets a charismatic, powerful and mysterious witch, who claims that he can remove her curse and her lycanthropy, Skylar is enticed. But this too comes at a price—the betrayal of her pack.

Which will she choose?

Review

I received a copy of Midnight falls for an honest review.

Welcome back to the world of Sky Brooks. First let me start by saying I love this series from McKenzie Hunter. It has such a refreshing twist on some classic character ideas.

So far in this series we have seen the evolution of Skylar from her struggling to deal with what she really is, and the discovery that is more than just a normal werewolf. Now that she has started to find her place in the pack, she is learning to except herself and discover her origans.

With the vampires taking more of a back seat in Midnight falls it is time for the other in the supernatural world to take a step into the spotlight. The witches in particular become a large pain in Skylar’s life. As the quest for power amongst the magical community turns into a vicious race for the ultimate weapon. The spells in the Clostra. When Skylar discovers that  Marcia the head of the creed has her Aufero, the situation will become more complicated. This allows for new story develops and the introduction of new characters.

Don’t worry the vampires are not completely absent from the story. The mysterious Quell  does make a appearance and even leaves Skylar with some sage advice.

Ethan is still playing a large role in Skylar’s development and integration to the pack. Though his motives and interest in Skylar are still not truly clear. You can see that Skylar’s feelings are beginning to become clear.  Though a large piece of the Ethan puzzle will become clear, as we learn more about his background and abilities.

I really loved this book and have tried my best to keep from giving away too much in the way of spoilers. If you haven’t read this series yet then you need to order your copies and get started.

Madame Tussaud's Apprentice by Kathleen Benner Duble

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Tuesday, December 22, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

In 1789, with the starving French people on the brink of revolution, orphaned Celie Rosseau, an amazing artist and a very clever thief, runs wild with her protector, Algernon, trying to join the idealistic freedom fighters of Paris. But when she is caught stealing from none other than the king's brother and the lady from the waxworks, Celie must use her drawing talent to buy her own freedom or die for her crimes. Forced to work for Madame Tussaud inside the opulent walls that surround Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Celie is shocked to find that the very people she imagined to be monsters actually treat her with kindness. But the thunder of revolution still rolls outside the gates, and Celie is torn between the cause of the poor and the safety of the rich. When the moment of truth arrives, will she turn on Madame Tussaud or betray the boy she loves? From the hidden garrets of the starving poor to the jeweled halls of Versailles, "Madame Tussaud's Apprentice" is a sweeping story of danger, intrigue, and young love, set against one of the most dramatic moments in history.

Review

I received  a copy of this book for a honest review.

Let me start by saying that had I not received a copy of this book, I honestly  don't think i would have ever picked it up to read. Which would have been a shame as this book is fantastic.

Welcome to France  pre-revolution.  We are introduced  to  Célie and Algernon, two teenage orphans who are fighting  for  survival on the streets  of Paris.

Celie was saved by Algernon after the death of her family.  Not only does she owe him her life, but over time she has fallen in love with him.

Forced to running cons and steal  to survive. Celie only outlet is her talent at drawing. But when a con goes wrong, her talent  for drawing is what can save her.

Enter Manon Tussaud who takes Celie into her care as her apprentice.  Where Celie  finds herself living in a comfortable home with nice, caring people who also teach her the trade of waxworks. The only thing missing is Algernon. Who she feels she owes her life to.

Since the death of ger family Célie has always wanted equality in France, but after spending some time living in Versailles she realises that the royal family might actually be as much prisoners in their life. Not everything is  as it appears to be. When  she sends  Algernon  a drawing of her time in Versailles, she will inadvertently  helps to incite the revolution .

Madame Tussaud's Apprentice is a story about a young girl trying to survive in a miserable and dangerous city. There  is also the added element of the French Revolution provided an intriguing and violent backdrop for this tale.  The twist at the end was a nice surprise and a great way to finish.

I really think that this is a book that you should add to your to read pile today .

Dark Tide (Waterfire Saga #3) by Jennifer Donnelly

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, December 06, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Once a lost and confused princess, Serafina is now a confident leader of the Black Fin Resistance (BFR). While she works on sabotaging her enemy and enlisting allies for battle, her friends face challenges of their own. Ling is in the hold of Rafe Mfeme's giant trawler, on her way to a prison camp. Becca meets up with Astrid and learns why the Ondalinian mermaid is always so angry: she is hiding a shameful secret. Ava can't return home, because death riders await her arrival. And it is getting more and more difficult for Mahdi, Serafina's betrothed, to keep up the ruse that he is in love with Lucia Volerno. If Lucia's parents become suspicious, his life--and all of Sera's hopes--will be extinguished. Political intrigue, dangerous liaisons, and spine-tingling suspense swirl like a maelstrom in this penultimate book in the WaterFire saga

Review
We hit the water with a splash in the 3rd book in the Waterfire Saga.

Dark Tide picks up where Rogue Wave left off. The girls are on the hunt for the remaining talismans and their lifes a still in danger as the death riders hunt for them.

So let's start with a little update on the girls.
♢Sera and Neela are now working with the Black Fin Resistance in a effort to save the realms.
♤ Astrid is heading home but is it the secret  she is hiding from the girls or what she fines when she returns home that will seal her fate.
♢ Ling is held captive and what she learns  will change not only her world but it will she'd light on who their enemy truly is.
♤ Ava is still looking for her talismans but will it be a mistake that will cost her everything.
♢Becca world will be further changed when her life is saved by a human.

The Waterfire saga is  more then a story about mermaids. It is  about finding inner strength and believing in yourself when everything seems hopeless. That you can be anything you want to be if you believe in you self.

It is refreshing  to read a story were the females are not waiting  to be rescued of saved by the leading male.  The mermaids are the focus and the mermen are secondary  characters  in the story. Each mermaid  bringing a different  strength  and  courage.

The  focus in Dark Tide is on  Sera, Ling, and Astrid. With the story primaraly told from there POV.  Another twist is the introduction  of Lucia's  POV, with thus we   get a glimpse into what's happening in Miromara.

This is a beautifully  crafted story, that pulls you into a underwater  world. I can not wait to see what will happen  next.

Rogue Wave (Waterfire Saga #2) by Jennifer Donnelly

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Friday, December 04, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Serafina, Neela, Ling, Ava, Becca, and Astrid, six mermaids from realms scattered throughout the seas and freshwaters, were summoned by the leader of the river witches to learn an incredible truth: the mermaids are direct descendants of the Six Who Ruled-powerful mages who once governed the lost empire of Atlantis. The ancient evil that destroyed Atlantis is stirring again, and only the mermaids can defeat it. To do so, they need to find magical talismans that belonged to the Six.

Serafina believes her talisman was buried with an old shipwreck. While researching its location, she is almost discovered by a death rider patrol led by someone familiar. . . . The pain of seeing him turned traitor is devastating.

Neela travels to Matali to warn her parents of the grave threat facing their world. But they find her story outlandish; a sign that she needs to be confined to her chamber for rest and recovery. She escapes and travels to Kandina, where her talisman is in the possession of fearsome razormouth dragons.

As they hunt for their talismans, both Serafina and Neela find reserves of courage and cunning they didn't know they possessed. They face down danger and death, only to endure a game-changing betrayal, as shocking as a rogue wave

Review

Rouge wave picks up where Deep Blue left off.

Seraphina and Neela, are both looking for the talisman that will help defeat Abbadon. The problem is, they don't know what they look like or where to start.  In order to find the talismans and to protect  them self from those who hunt them they split up.

The book was non stop action, and did change POV  a few times. Which helped to give the book pace and depth.

Like the first book freindship is at the forefront of the story. However unlike Deep Blue, we get to see a little  romance. We also get to see a different side to Serafina and a secret  from Deep Blue is revealed.

Finding a good mermaid series is often  hard. It can oftern be to girly, bland or to over worked, but Jennifer Donnelly  interpretation of life underwater and her take on mermaids is one I really enjoyed. It has the ideal mix of fantasy, magic and realism to not only pull you into the world but to jeep you there.
This series  is  the perfect holiday  read.

Deep Blue (Waterfire Saga #1) by Jennifer Donnelly

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, November 29, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Serefina, daughter of Isabella, Queen of Miromara, has been raised with the expectation - and burden - that she will someday become ruler of the oldest civilization of the merfolk. On the eve of the Dokimí ceremony, which will determine if she is worthy of the crown, Sera is haunted by a strange dream that foretells the return of an ancient evil. But her nightmare is forgotten the next day as she diligently practices her songspell; eagerly anticipates a reunion with her best friend, Neela; and anxiously worries about Mahdi, the crown prince of Matali, and whether his feelings toward her and their future betrothal have changed. Most of all, she worries about not living up to her mother's hopes.

The Dokimí proceeds, a dazzling display of majesty and might, until a shocking turn of events interrupts it: an assassin's arrow wounds Isabella. The realm falls into chaos, and Serafina's darkest premonitions are confirmed. Now she and Neela must embark on a quest to find the assassin's master and prevent a war between the mer nations. Their search will lead them to other mermaid heriones scattered across the six seas. Together they will form an unbreakable bond of sisterhood as they uncover a conspiracy that threatens their world's very existence.

Reiview

Deep Blue is a  exciting underwater adventure.  The first book in the Waterfire series by Jennifer Donnelly hits the ground running or in this case should I say hits the water with a splash.

When  we first meet Serafina, she is waking up on the day of her betrothal  to  Prince Mahdi. Her biggest problem  is making sure that she sings her song correct. But Sera finds herself haunted by a strange dream that foretell the return of an ancient evil. But are these dreams or something  much worse?

When Serafina kingdom is attacked and her world shattered, she will embark on a quest to find the people who attacked her kingdom and prevent a war between the Mer nations.
Now hiding from those who seek to capture her she will follow her  dreams and  searches for five other mermaid who are scattered across the six seas.

The mermaids in Deep Blue are diverse and Jennifer  description  of not only them but there world are so vivid that it is very easy to imagine.

The thing I really liked about this book is that it focused more on friendship than romance. Friendship is key in this book. The bond between Sera and Neela is unshakable, and I love that this is an important aspect of the book. It is a different  point of focus for a YA story. As often  the focus is on the love story. It is nice to see that the foundation  for this story is friendship

Each of the girls  are from different  parts of the ocean and as such they have different characteristics and respective gifts.

Serafina is surprisingly likeable with a mix of natural talent and hard work.

Neela on the other hand has just a touch of the spoiled princess about her. She is the cousin of Prince Mahdi, and is not content with  life of privilege. She wants more, she wants to be a fashion designer.

We learn only the most basic information about the other four girls, which leads me to believe that we will learn more in the next book.

This is a fantastic  read and would be the perfect  read for sitting down at the beach this summer.

Sarah J Maas Interview

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Wednesday, November 18, 2015 0 comments

Ahead of her Australian tour i have been  luck enough to have the opportunity to interview  with  Sarah J Maas.

Welcome Sarah J Maas to Paranormal Angel Blog.

Thank you so much for having me! :)

When you are writing your stories to you base your characters on people you know in real life or are they completely fictional?

Nope! The characters in my books just randomly stroll into my head (I seriously have no idea where they even come from)! I like to keep the people in my life separate from the ones in my books. J

What does a typical writing day look like for you?

Well, I write full-time from home (I can’t write in public—I get too emotional while writing, and would probably be kicked out of any coffee shop/library!), so my days are pretty much dictated by my dog and when she wants a walk. ;) Seriously though, my typical day looks like this: I spend the mornings doing non-writing stuff—answering emails, social media, interviews (like this one!)… And because I am so not a morning person, it takes about until lunchtime for the creative parts of my brain to wake up. So, after lunch, I focus on all the writing things: drafting a book, doing edits, etc., and will do that until dinner (and sometimes until late at night). Rinse & repeat. J

Is there anything that surprised you about the process or path to publication?

Honestly? Just how long everything takes! I never knew that there was such a huge time gap between selling a book to a publisher and actually seeing that book on a shelf. In YA (in the US at least), it can take anywhere from 18 months to over two years. For me, I sold TOG in March of 2010…and it didn’t release until August 2012 (nearly 2.5 years)! But all that time is spent revising and refining the novel—which I’ve really come to cherish!

What is next for you?
Right now, I’m working on my first round of edits for the fifth Throne of Glass book, and just finishing up my copyedits for A Court of Mist and Fury (the sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses).

With your upcoming tour of Australia is there anything particular you are looking forward to seeing or doing?

Just seeing Australia is a dream come true! But I’m really, really looking forward to meeting my Australian readers! Some of them have championed my books since the very beginning—it’ll be wonderful to finally meet them in person!

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

You guys are AMAZING! Thank you so much for all that you do for me and my books!

Thank you so much for your time.

Darkness Unchained by McKenzie Hunter

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Monday, October 26, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Just try to survive. That had been Skylar’s goal since she discovered that she had died at birth and become a host to a very powerful spirit shade. She was a werewolf with the ability to manipulate magic, and that made Skylar an enigma that most viewed as either an asset or a danger. Being an anomaly in the otherworld was a hazard, and last year she had barely survived. After declining membership in the Midwest Pack, Skylar naively thought she could return to a normal life and fade into obscurity. She was wrong.

After saving the life of a pack member who was brutally attacked, Skylar finds herself pulled back into the otherworld to help the Northern Seethe and Midwest Pack find the person responsible for the recent attacks on their people. The situation is further complicated when the Seethe hires Chris, a hunter and the pack’s Beta’s ex. With her connections and extensive knowledge of the otherworld she should have been a welcomed asset; but her turbulent history with the pack, complicated relationship with the Master of the Northern Seethe, and the lingering feelings between her and the Beta create conflict between the enemies-turned-allies.

Once again, Skylar must negotiate the lies, secrets and strange politics that govern the otherworld while struggling not to draw attention to her abilities. It falls apart when she inadvertently changes a peculiar vampire and Chris discovers the link between Skylar and the culprit responsible for the attacks on the vampires and were-animals.

Now Skylar wonders if she will be able to survive the otherworld this time.

Review

I was lucky enough to receive a copy from McKenzie Hunter in exchange for a honest review.

If you haven’t  read “Moon Tortured,” stop now.  “Darkness Unchained” is the SECOND in the Sky Brooks Series.  Trust me you will want to read “Moon Tortured”.

Welcome  back to the world of  Skylar Brooks.  We join sky not long after the events of "Moon Tortured ” she is slowly  settling into life on her own.Though she may have not choose to join the pack, she has tried to keep in contact. But some members  of the pack have a issue  with that.

When something  threatens  to kill off the pack they are left with no choose to form a unlikely  truce and work together before they are all killed.

Now like most sequels there is always  that worry  that the book will fall flat and not live up to your expectations. “Darkness Unchained” lived up to my expectations  and more.

Sky is no longer the naive victim of the paranormal world, that  we meet in “Moon Tortured”.  She is now developing  into a strong confident  character who is learning to expect who she really is.

This book brings a whole new level of intrigue to this series. I enjoyed the new elements that were brought into this story. From the introduction  of new characters  to gaining a greater understanding and knowlage of the characters we meet in "Moon Tortured ”.

I loved this book and can not wait to read the next book in the series.

Moon Tortured (Sky Brooks #1)by McKenzie Hunter

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Sunday, October 18, 2015 0 comments

Synopsis

Skylar’s death came not at the end, after a long fulfilling existence, not in the middle, as a result of an untimely tragic event—but at the beginning, with her birth.

As a final effort to save her dying unborn child, Skylar’s pregnant mother, a witch, sacrificed herself by invoking a powerful spirit shade to inhabit Skylar’s body, imbuing her with life. For twenty-three years, Skylar lived a life of oblivion, content with her simple job, loving adoptive mother and the monthly inconvenience of a full moon hangover after being sedated and caged when she changed into a wolf. It wasn’t exciting but it was her life until one night, she woke up in a strange room in the middle of rural Illinois—bruised and with jumbled memories of her mother’s death from a vampire attack. The Midwest pack comes to her rescue. Known for being more ruthless than altruistic she doesn’t know if she can trust them.

But after an assassination attempt by a necromancer, an abduction attempt by a mercenary, and more aggressive and violent attacks by the vampires, she has no other choice but to accept their help. The Midwest pack quickly discover that Skylar is the host to a spirit shade, who gives her magical abilities, that make her as much of a danger as an asset and that she is the key to the vampires’ plan to perform a ritual that will give them unrestricted power. Tension rises as the pack become divided between those who think her life is worth protecting as a potential ally and those who believe she is too dangerous to live. In the end, Skylar finds herself fighting for her life—a life that may be tragically taken too soon.

Review

Let me start by saying that I was lucky enough to receive a copy from McKenzie Hunter in exchange for a honest review.

I honestly think that this series could be the next big thing! As I read it I could see the potential for a movie or TV series.

Lets start at the beginning. Skylar is the anything but your typical leading lady. If anything is is a combination  of your favorite leading ladies.  Like anyone with a gift they don't really want or understand, all she has ever wanted was to be a normal but fate had other plans.

We are introduced  to Skylar  in the first line of the book. "This isn't the first time I awoke in a strange place, naked and bloodstained." Which pulls you straight  into her world.

Skylar has a semi-normal life with her adoptive mother until a horrendous vampire attack leaves her alone. When Skylar  wakes up, she finds herself in the hands of the Midwest Pack, who are determined to  protect her.

The Midwest pack seem to be very likeable and protective characters.   The pack consists of many were animals but  we are only really introduce  to a few key members. Sebastian the Alpha, Ethan the Beta, Josh a Warlock, Steven a Coyote, Winter a Snake and a guest Beta from another pack, Joan a panther.

I am a sucker for books containing vampires and werewolves but McKenzie  intertwine them in a way that the book feels both familiar and brand new at the same time.

If you are a fan of the  paranormal  fiction then this is a book you need to get your hands on.

༺❃༻ NEW RELEASE ༺❃༻
Zed By Jason McIntyre is LIVE!
#DovetailCove #JasonMcIntyre #Horror #Suspense #thriller #paranormal #booktrope

It’s the waning dog days of August, 1975 and Tom Mason’s in Dovetail Cove for the last few weeks of his summer job at the group home. His boss and the home’s owner is Karen Banatyne, one of the wealthiest folks in town. It seems like she’s got it in for Tom; she's the only one standing in his way as he scrimps for a new camera.

But Karen has her own problems. A regulatory agency might cut off her funding, plus her hubby hasn’t been seen in a few weeks, and she’s not saying why. Most ominous of all, it seems as though something’s hiding in the hot spring north of the main beach and one of Karen’s ‘houseguests’ is about to come face to face with evil. Tom is too.
