Review
Firstly I am a fan of Aira Williams work and this book is no exception

Aria builds the world through the eyes of her character which helps to pull you into the life of the characters. It also helps to make you feel part of the story

Overall I enjoyed the story. There are still elements of the narrative that I found at times were a little sharp and blunt.  Though by the end I was wishing for more and will be very interested to see how this story develops.
This is one to put into your to read pile.

If i should die by Amy Plum

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Thursday, June 20, 2013 0 comments

Review

If I should die is the epic conclusion  to this beautiful French love story. Amy plum does not disappoint her loyal fan.

Throughout this story we have been pulled into this modern day take on a classic love story. We have joined kate as she moves to Paris, struggling to deal with the lose of her parent. The last thing she ever imagined was falling  in love with a Paris revenants

I’ve spent a lot of time wondering about Kate and Vincent’s fate, and even after a whole year of living with that awful cliffhanger in mind, a part of me was reluctant to read how this story would end.

The story took some pretty unexpected twists and turns and several secondary characters taking a important role.

My only disappointment was the part Jules had in this book.

The focus of if I should die wasn’t on Kate and Vincent alone, but on all the revenants would and as Amy carefully announced on her Facebook page, not everyone got their happily ever after. Some stories ended gloriously, and some brought me to tears. But it was a great change to have a series end with openings and the possibility of more one day. Fingers crossed.

After all the troubles the numa have caused, seeing the bardia united in their effort to conquer evil in a final battle like no other. It was a very intense scene with a lot of things happening at once – I was shocked when I realized how fast it was all over.

This is a most read series and will remain one of my favorite of all time. Thank you Amy for a beautiful series

Synopsis

I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

Author spotlight Brenda Franklin

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Wednesday, June 19, 2013 0 comments
This week our Author  under the spot light is spotlight  Brenda Franklin

Bio:

My name is Brenda Franklin and I am a writer.

I was born and raised in Louisiana where I live with my loving family in the country, a couple of cats, and any other wildlife that wants to walk through the yard--excluding my husband, of course. I spend most of my time writing Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. When I'm not writing I can be found drawing, going for a nice walk to a nearby cemetery, playing a few games with my husband, reading any book I can get my hands on, and trying to fend off all the voices in my head telling me to get back to writing. It's hard sometimes to focus with so much going on in my head and if I ever need to truly relax I enjoy a nice hot bubble bath. :)

I am currently giving the final touches to Flat Line, the last in my paranormal romance trilogy, Pulse. Once done, I plan to jump right into my next series. The Middle-Lands. Pack your things for an adventure which will steal your heart and leave you breathless.

Books:

Now, Virgil Hart must try to defeat his brother at his twisted games to keep Elizabeth safe, but it’s turning out to be a lot harder than he thought.

Book 2:
Barley Beating

After a feeding goes wrong Virgil is captured, tortured, and left starving in a basement where his only choice for food is Elizabeth’s best friend. It’s only a matter of time before Virgil gives in as Elizabeth searches desperately for him with two new faces.

Can she get to him in time or will William finally seek his revenge?

Book 3:
Flat Line (Coming out in July)
Info:

After eight months from when Elizabeth Parks was first introduced into a world of vampires she thought things couldn't get more complicated. Her wedding to Virgil Hart is only a week away, her store is busier than ever, and to top it all off she can't seem to ignore a feeling as though she's being watched.

Keeping Virgil in the dark about her feelings may not have been the smartest of ideas a vampire mistakes her for someone else and kidnaps her right under their noses to a vampire who is as shocked to see her as she is to see him.

Again, Virgil finds himself racing the clock to get Elizabeth back, but this time will it be impossible to save her ? Will this be Virgil's last fight as he faces off with a house full of vampires? Or will he be able to reach her and once and for all settle things with his past?

Join Virgil and Elizabeth in the final book of the Pulse Trilogy, Flat Line.

As Peter tries to keep an unwilling Alisa safe he begins to unravel the web of secrets surrounding her and why she is being hunted, but is what she protects worth the life of the one man she is destined to be with? And can he get over the fact that she is everything he hates long enough to realize she's just what he needs? Or will the sacrifice be too great in the end for either of them?

What I’m working on now:

My newest project is the Middle-Lands Series.
The first book will be set on Earth, introducing two key characters, and setting the tone for the whole series. Essentially, for all those wondering, the Middle-Lands is a world outside of our own connected by hidden doors, and Earth isn’t the only planet that connects to the Middle-Lands, but I’ll leave it at that.

Book one of the Middle Lands blurb:

Nineteen year old Eve dropped out of high school in the tenth grade, received her GED a year later, has worked from one dead end job to the next since she was thirteen, and was kicked out of her step mother’s house yesterday.
She has no home, no family, no friend good enough to take her in, and barley enough money to get her anywhere, but she isn’t at a total loss.
She may not have any friends with the living, but she has plenty of friends with the dead and they aren’t about to let Eve be thrown away like trash. They give her the key to her freedom, the knowledge of a place she could go to escape her life and the world, known as the Middle-Lands.
Now, with her ghostly companion, a small backpack, and nothing to lose, she is on a journey that will change her life forever.
Join Alice as she passes from one world to the next in the first installment in the Middle-Lands Series.

Questions from the public

If you could be any paranormal creature what would you be?
I couldn’t be anything other than a vampire. Even my Twitter account says, “Vampire in hiding.” I’m a vampire lover till the end.

Do you have any writing ritual? if so what?
My recent ritual has been to get up supper early with my husband, make some coffee or Tea to drink, kiss him goodbye, and then crawl back to the bedroom to write. In my latest work I have discovered that writing between 4 and 8 in the morning in silence has been the best stimulus.

Who inspired you to become a writer?
When I was younger, perhaps around the sixth grade range, my father had an old bookshelf in our living room. From top to bottom it was filled with combat related books, old westerns, a stack of magazines (I’m not sure he ever read them), several Dean Koontz (my sister’s favorites), a few Stephen King books, a book called, ‘My Brother John’, the Necromancer series by Brian Lumley, and a whole bunch of other things. But the one book I remember most was a book by Anne Rice (Howard Allen Frances O’Brien if you didn’t know). It was ‘Interview with a Vampire’. It was this book that introduced me into the world of vampires and I haven’t been the same since.

What is the strangest place your writing has taken you?
I wrote a short story which has yet to be posted where my main character was transferred to a forest of Gold by a man with blue glowing tattoos. It was inspired by The Golden Key, a great classic written by George Macdonald. That would be the strangest so far.
Now, if I had to pick out of the stories that are published, it would have to be to a cemetery in Guardian, A Fated Pairing, but even that isn’t as strange as the golden forest.

Do you prefer Traditional book or ebook?
I love traditional books. I feel of paper between your fingers, the smell of the pages at every turn, and the lovely look of the entire package as it sits up on my shelf. I am beginning to use ebook readers more, like the kindle app. For space saving and quick, easy access I can rely on it, but I still love traditional more.

Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
Everywhere. When I dream, when I’m brushing my teeth, when I’m soaking in a hot tub, and even when I’m working at my day job I just can’t stop thinking about writing. I will get brilliant moments while I’m at work and have to stop what I’m doing to jot down a not or two. I just get these heavy cravings to write at any moment that I can’t control.

What story/ character have you most enjoyed creating?
I created a character named Ava Lynn in my book, Guardian, A Fated Pairing and the character Garrison in the Pulse Trilogy. Those two would have to be my favorites. Ava is my favorite because she is a bit on the sadistic side and you can never be too sure what she might do and Garrison is my favorite because he looks and seems serious with a level of mysteriousness due to his job, but at heart he’s a very compassionate man.

Hidden by Marianne Curley

Posted by Paranormalangelblog at Friday, June 14, 2013 0 comments

Review
This is the first book I have read by Marianne Curley and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

The story is told through both Ebony and Jordan's POV, which not only gave me insight into both these characters but you also get to hear the story from both sides . It helps reveal the growing relationship between our characters

Ebony and Jordan were born at the same time, they share a special link. Trust just don't know it yet. After meeting by accident their world will never be the same. Enter Nathaneal, a gorgeous angel who has secrets of his own.

The plot unfolded brilliantly, letting me know what I needed about the different characters while at the same time keeping a mystery about them. It’s the first in a series, so there are lots of unanswered questions, like why Ebony has so much trouble accepting she’s an angel, and why Jordan feels so intensely in love with Ebony.

There is a lot of room for this series to grow and develop

It kept me turning the pages even while I wanted to read it more slowly so I could savour the moments as long as I could. This is deffinatly worth a read.

Synopsis
For as long as Ebony can remember, she's been sheltered. Confined to her home in a secluded valley, home-schooled by her protective parents, and limited to a small circle of close friends. It's as if she's being hidden. But something is changing in Ebony. Something that can't be concealed. She's growing more beautiful by the day, she's freakishly strong, and then there's the fact that she's glowing.

On one fateful night, Ebony meets Jordan and she's intensely drawn to him. It's as if something explodes inside of her--something that can be seen from the heavens. Ebony still doesn't know that she's a stolen angel, but now that the heavens have found her, they want her back.

This week's with a cover like that belongs to Marianne Curley Hidden.

What I love abut this cover is the fact that it combines a simple front on black and white photo with white digital graphics.

The use of black and white on the cover with just a hint of colour for the title  is a simplistic yet effective tool to grab the read attention.

Bram Stoker’s iconic novel is by far the most influential horror book of all time. But what many people may not know is  that the original  final chapter for Dracula was removed by  Bram Stoker. In the original chapter, Dracula’s castle falls apart as he dies, to hide the fact that vampires were ever there. But whether it was because of the possibly of a  sequel or being mindful that it would echo the ending of Edgar Allan Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher, he dropped it.

If this chapter had been left I wonder if Dracula would still hold such a important part in history.

Heavenly hell synopsis-

You'd think being stuck in the body of a beautiful seventeen year old girl forever would be a gift. But when you are fallen, it is more like a curse.
Indiana was a beautiful angel, enjoying the perks of Heaven, until she was tricked by a demon to fall in love with him. She was forced to fall from Heaven and remain in her seventeen year old form, banished to Earth, for all of eternity.
Now, unable to cope with her banishment, she is a seemingly normal seventeen year old girl by day, while she spends her nights punishing men for the wrongs they have committed against women.
Although Indiana has lived on Earth for thousands of years, she recently settled into a small town, where she has finally been able to make some lasting friendships. When a handsome, mysterious boy comes to town, Indiana knows something is not right. He might end up her ally, or she might end up in the fight of her life.

Banished from Grace- synopsis

Nardia is a very special nurse, one with a unique gift. With the touch of her bare hands, she can heal any physical ailment. With the help of her angel guide, Benilde, Nardia has healed her way through countless centuries.
Life should be easy for this attractive (not to mention, immortal) woman, but throw in two handsome men, a coffee addiction and memory loss that dates back to the medieval ages, and you’ve got a life that’s more than complicated.
When she meets AJ at her favourite coffee shop, she can’t help but feel an immediate attraction to him. At the same time, she knows there’s more to his story than what he’s letting on. And then there’s the handsome Doctor Regan, who she feels a connection with, but is she trying to make it more than is really there in order to spare her the heartbreak of being with AJ?
Only adding to her problems is the new resident, Dr. Jeffries, who seems out to get her from day one, and a murder case she can’t help solve without revealing her own secrets.
Can Nardia uncover the secrets of her own past while still moving forward and saving those in need of her help in the present?

Edgar Allan Poe wrote about death and all other things dark and macabre. His life itself is a pretty dark story. But his themes and his life are not the most creepy details about Mr. Poe. He wrote a short story in 1838, titled "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket." In the story, three shipwreck survivors in an open boat kill and eat the fourth man, named Richard Parker. In 1884, (almost 50 years LATER) three real-life shipwreck survivors in an open boat killed and ate the fourth man, whose name was also Richard Parker.
